The captivation
of moving pictures is a source of tremendous inspiration. For this reason and many more, RB28’s Movie

The synopsis follows. Sliding
Doors (1998) is a fascinating drama story, out of London,
United Kingdom/Britain. In the City of London, United Kingdom/Britain,
Helen and Gerry are in a relationship.
Additionally, they live together.
Helen works at a P.R. firm, and, Gerry is unemployed. Gerry is writing, or, attempting to write a
novel. Obviously, the excuse Gerry uses,
for being unemployed. Helen arrives at
work, and, her employment is terminated at the beginning of the work day. Helen is leaving the building, when, she meets
James for the first time. In the subway
station, Helen runs and misses boarding the subway train. Unexpectedly, magic happens. The Helen that, missed the subway train,
becomes, Helen #1. Magic happens again, and,
time rewinds. Helen #2 runs and boards
the subway train; successfully. Helen #2
sits next to James, and, they officially meet and get to know each other. Helen #2 returns to her apartment, only to
discover that Gerry is having a morning of sex.
The morning of sex includes a woman named, Lydia. Lydia,
was Gerry’s girlfriend before Helen.
Helen #1 missed the subway train, and, she leaves the subway
station. On the sidewalk, Helen #1 has
her purse stolen. In the process; Helen
#1 falls, and, hits her head against a tree.
Helen #1 is taken to the hospital, and, she returns to her apartment
late in the day. In this storyline,
Gerry has cleaned up the evidence of a morning of sex, with Lydia. Helen #1 and Helen #2, continue, in two
separate trajectories. Helen #1 stays
with Gerry. Additionally; she finds work
at a restaurant, and, she also delivers sandwiches. Gerry continues, the love affair with Lydia. Helen #2 leaves Gerry, and, she lives with
her friend Anna. Additionally; Helen #2
dyes her hair blonde, and, she cuts it super short. Helen #2 also starts or opens, her own small
P.R. firm. The story culminates, when
both Helens are pregnant. Director,
Peter Howitt, does a very good job. The
movie is a fun and interesting story.
The notion of two storylines for Helen, was executed in an organized
manner. The viewer can easily
distinguish, between, the Helen characters.
The writer, Peter Howitt, does an equally very good job. The interaction between Helen #2 and James,
is very well written. Additionally,
their romantic interaction is not exaggerated.
The officially recognized stars contribute tremendously. They would be missed, if they were not
chosen. Special recognition is merited
to Gwyneth Paltrow, the Helen characters are very memorable. Overall, Sliding
Doors (1998) earns the rating of 8 out of 10.
The movie narrative of, Sliding Doors (1998), is as
follows. The city is London,
UK/Britain. There are scenes of London. Helen prepares her things, in order, to go to
work. Gerry is still in bed;
sleeping. Gerry is Helen’s boyfriend. Gerry gets out of bed, the moment Helen
leaves. Helen uses public
transportation, and, she starts to walk to work. Gerry doesn’t work, and, he starts to
shower. Helen stops at a couple of
stores, in order, to buy things. Helen
arrives late for a morning meeting.
Helen’s colleagues are waiting for her.
Helen is confronted, about taking vodka bottles. Helen’s employment, at the P.R. firm, is
subsequently terminated. One colleague
always suspected that, she was homosexual.
A woman named, Lydia,
arrives at Helen’s apartment. Lydia
is Gerry’s lover. Lydia
was also Gerry’s girlfriend, before Helen.
Helen is leaving the office building, when she accidentally, meets a man
named James; for the first time. Helen
enters the subway station. Helen runs,
in order, to get on the subway train.
Regrettably; the doors close, and, Helen misses the subway train. Magic happens and this Helen, becomes, Helen
#1. Magic happens again, and, time is
moved back. Helen #2 runs, in order, to
get on the subway train. Helen #2 gets
on the subway train. Interestingly;
James is on the train, and, he is sitting next to Helen. Helen #1 leaves the station, and, she stands
on the sidewalk; attempting to get on a taxi.
Helen #2 travels on the subway train.
As a taxi approaches, Helen #1 has her purse stolen. Helen #1 also hits her head, against a tree,
during the theft. Helen #1 is on the
floor; when the taxi driver decides to get out, to be able to help Helen. The taxi driver takes Helen #1 to the hospital,
to be able to get stitches. Grudgingly,
Helen #2 starts to talk to James. Helen
#1 arrives at the hospital. Helen #2
continues talking to James. In a polite
way, Helen #2 pushes James away. Helen
#1 has the cut treated. James persists
with Helen #2. James and Helen #2, get
off of the subway train. They continue
having an awkward conversation, with each other. At Helen’s apartment, Gerry continues the
morning of sex, with Lydia. It results that, Lydia
has returned from the U.S.A. Helen #2 and James continue talking, as they
leave the subway station. At the
hospital, Helen #1 calls Gerry, at the apartment and by telephone. Helen #2 arrives at her apartment. Helen #2 walks around, and, she finds Gerry
having sex with Lydia;
in their bed. Lydia
introduces herself. Helen #2 hits Gerry,
and, Lydia
leaves. Helen #1 travels to her
apartment. Helen #2 confronts Gerry,
about Lydia. Helen #2 leaves her apartment. Helen #1 is arriving at her apartment, when
at the same time, Lydia
is leaving Helen’s apartment. Helen #1
enters her apartment, and, Gerry is in the shower. Gerry hides evidence of Lydia,
having been there. Helen #1 awkwardly
talks to Gerry. Helen #2 thinks, whilst
standing on a bridge. Helen #2 throws a
ring, into, the river and cries. Helen
#1 continues talking, with Gerry. Helen
#1 and Gerry, prepare to go out for dinner.
In the Helen #2 storyline, Gerry looks for Helen #2 at her friend’s
house. Helen’s friend tells Gerry that,
she wouldn’t help him. Helen #2 drinks
at a bar. In the Helen #2 storyline,
Gerry talks to a friend, about what has happened. Gerry’s friend listens to Gerry. At the bar, James arrives and says hello to
Helen #2. Helen #2 tells James, what has
happened. In the Helen #1 storyline,
Helen and Gerry arrive at the same restaurant.
Helen #1 and Gerry, drink at the bar.
The man named James, sits next to Helen.
Helen #1 and Gerry drink heavily.
Anna arrives to be with, Helen #2.
Helen #2 tells Anna everything, which has happened. Helen #1 and Gerry, continue drinking. Unexpectedly, Lydia
calls Gerry on his mobile telephone. Gerry
hangs up the telephone, before, Helen #1 can notice. Anna takes Helen #2, to her house. Quickly; James decides to take along Helen #2
and Anna, in his taxi. Helen #1 and
Gerry eat dinner. Helen #2 and Anna
arrive, at Anna’s house. Anna agrees to
let Helen #2, stay with her. Helen #1
and Gerry, arrive at Helen’s apartment.
Gerry talks to himself, whilst, looking at himself in the mirror. The next day, Helen #1 and Helen #2 recover
from the previous day. Helen #1, looks
for employment. Meanwhile, Helen #2
thinks about cutting her hair. Helen #1
starts working at a restaurant, as a server.
Additionally, Helen #1 finds a second job, delivering sandwiches. Helen #2 dyes her hair blonde, and, she cuts
it super short. Helen #1 works her job
at the restaurant. Helen #2 and Anna
pass the time, talking. Unexpectedly,
someone knocks on the door. Helen #2 and
Anna argue about, who will answer the door.
Helen #2, answers the door and it is, James. Helen #2 and James, go out to a restaurant,
in order, to talk. James asks Helen #2,
out on a date. Helen #1 and Gerry, pass
time watching television. Helen #1
starts to ask Gerry questions, about a bottle of brandy and glasses. Gerry, becomes nervous and angry. He also deflects the question or questions. James leaves Helen #2, at Anna’s house. Helen #1, works her job delivering
sandwiches. Lydia
orders a sandwich. Helen #1 finishes
delivering sandwiches, and, she returns to her apartment. Gerry leaves in a hurry. Helen #1, decides to follow Gerry. Helen #1 watches Gerry, enter the
library. At the library, Gerry talks to Lydia,
on the telephone. Lydia
becomes angry, at Gerry. At Anna’s
house, Anna returns with Helen #2’s things.
James calls and asks for, Helen #2.
James invites Helen #2 out for dinner; this night. Unexpectedly; James’s wife approaches James,
whilst, he is on the telephone. However,
James successfully deflects the situation.
James’s wife leaves for her trip.
James passes time with his mother.
In the Helen #1 storyline, Gerry talks to his friend at a bar. Gerry confesses everything, about Helen #1
and Lydia, to
his friend. Gerry’s friend is concerned
about, Gerry’s behavior. Furthermore, he
sees a lot of problems approaching.
Helen #2 is at dinner, with James.
There are other people, and, the group is large. James and Helen #2, walk to Anna’s
house. James and Helen #2 arrive, at
Anna’s house. Before James leaves, James
and Helen #2 agree, to meet again on Saturday.
Helen #2, applies for a small business loan. Helen #2 and Anna, talk about things. The small business loan, is approved. Helen #2 and Anna, prepare an office
space. The office space is ready, and,
Helen #2 owns a small business. Helen
#1, works her job delivering sandwiches.
Unexpectedly; Lydia
orders a sandwich, and, she reprimands Helen #1. Lydia
does tell Gerry, about the altercation with Helen #1. Lydia
confesses to Gerry that, she did it on purpose.
Furthermore, she wants to know, why he doesn’t leave Helen #1 for
her. Gerry’s friend, calls Gerry to let
him know that, Helen #1 has been looking for him. Helen #1, arrives at her apartment. Gerry talks awkwardly to Helen #1, about
things. Helen #1 falls asleep. Helen #2 passes time with James, on the
river. James’s friends are also
there. Helen #1 walks and talks, to
Anna. Helen #2 cheers, as James finishes
a row boat race. James, Helen #2 and a
large group celebrate after the row boat race.
Unexpectedly, Gerry watches Helen #2, from the window. Lydia
is with Gerry. Lydia
and Gerry, start to argue about Helen #2.
Helen #2, successfully recruits a client for her small business. The new client is one of James’s
friends. At night, Helen #2 and James
pass time on the river. Helen #2,
rejects a kiss from James. Unexpectedly,
Helen #2 kisses James. Helen #2 and
James return to Anna’s house; for sexual intercourse. James leaves early, and, Helen #2 wakes up by
herself. James leaves a note on the
pillow. Helen #1, works her job
delivering sandwiches. In the Helen #1
storyline, Lydia
arrives for Gerry. Lydia
and Gerry leave, for their trip driving.
Meanwhile, Helen #1, delivers sandwiches. Helen #2 puts on a grand opening event. The client is James’s friend. Helen #1, works her job at the
restaurant. Helen #2 watches Gerry,
enter the grand opening event. Gerry
wants to talk to Helen #2. Additionally;
Gerry apologizes to Helen #2, and, he wants to be her boyfriend again. James watches Helen #2 and Gerry, talk. Helen #2 asks Gerry to leave. Gerry agrees to leave, but, he still kisses
Helen #2. James watches from a
distance. Unexpectedly, Helen #1 and
Helen #2, begin to feel dizzy. Helen #2,
is congratulated for doing a good job.
Helen #1, calls Gerry on the telephone.
Gerry is kissing Lydia,
and, he doesn’t answer. Helen #2 and
Anna, talk about James. Helen #2 has
been calling James, but, she cannot find him.
James thinks about calling, Helen #2.
Helen #1 talks to Gerry, on the telephone. Lydia
enters the room, and, Gerry hangs up the telephone. Helen #1 misses the opportunity to tell Gerry
that, she is pregnant. Immediately; Lydia
and Gerry, start to argue with each other.
Lydia
tells Gerry that, she is trying desperately, to be his girlfriend. An angry Lydia,
collects her things and leaves. Gerry
meets-up with his friend, at a bar.
Gerry is ecstatic, because, Lydia
is out of the picture. Helen #1, works
her job at the restaurant. Helen #1
returns to her apartment. Gerry is
there, and additionally, Helen #1 wasn’t expecting him to be there. Helen #2 and Gerry, talk at Gerry’s
apartment. Gerry asks Helen to live with
him, again. Unexpectedly, Lydia
calls Gerry, to tell him she’s pregnant.
Gerry goes to the bathroom. At
this time; Helen #2 dials back the number, and, Lydia
answers the telephone. Helen #2 identifies
herself to Lydia. Helen #2, leaves in an angry manner. Gerry watches Helen #2 leave, but, he doesn’t
know that Helen #2 has spoken to Lydia. Helen #2 expresses her feelings, to
Anna. In the Helen #2 storyline, Gerry
meets-up with his friend, at a bar.
Gerry tells his friend that, Lydia
is pregnant. Gerry’s friend tells Gerry
that, the game is over. Helen #1 avoids
talking to Gerry. In the kitchen; Helen
#1 starts to talk to Gerry about, what is happening in her life. Unexpectedly, Lydia
is standing outside the kitchen window. Lydia
steps to the side, and, Helen #1 doesn’t see her there. Lydia
calls Gerry, on the house telephone.
Gerry answers, and, they agree to meet-up. At her office, Helen #2 thinks about calling
James. Helen #2 sits at a restaurant, by
herself. Unexpectedly, Helen #2 crashes
into James. Helen #2 and James, talk
awkwardly about things. James receives a
telephone call, and, he starts to leave.
James says something, about his mother being in the hospital. Helen #2 says that, she can go with him. James rejects the idea. James and Helen #2, agree to meet-up for
dinner. James turns the corner walking,
and, he kisses his wife. Helen #1 and
Anna, talk about things. Helen #2 and
James, go out to dinner. From this point
forward; the series of events, take the viewer, to the end. Both; Helen #1 and Helen #2, are
pregnant. Finally; you have to watch, in
order to know, how this movie ends.
