The captivation
of moving pictures is a source of tremendous inspiration. For this reason and many more, RB28’s Movie
Narratives, continues showing its love for movies with another movie
narrative. This week, Lulu on the Bridge (1998), will be
converted into a narrative and subsequently highlighted. It is implied that the blog reader reads the

The synopsis follows. Lulu on
the Bridge (1998) is a drama mystery story, out of New
York City. In New
York City, U.S.A.,
an old jazz musician prepares for a concert performance. Izzy is a well known, and respected,
saxophone player in a jazz band. During
the concert, a crazy man enters the concert hall firing his gun. Despite the chaos, Izzy continues to play the
saxophone. Unfortunately, one of the
bullets hits Izzy. As a result, Izzy
lies on the floor, shot and dying. As he
is lying there, he sees a rock fall from the ceiling. Time passes, Izzy lives but he lost the use
of his left lung. Meanwhile, an unknown
actress named, Celia Burns, works at a restaurant. Additionally, she continues to do auditions,
in order, to progress her acting career.
Izzy’s ex-wife visits Izzy, because, she is worried about him. Hannah is her name, and, Hannah invites Izzy
to dinner with her and her husband. Izzy
goes to Hannah’s house, in order, to have dinner with her and her husband. As soon as he arrives, Izzy is informed that,
an ex-actress will be joining the group for dinner. Her name is Catherine Moore, and, she has
become a movie director. During dinner,
Catherine and Philip tell the group that, they are working on a new version of
a movie called, Pandora’s Box. Izzy leaves the dinner and walks back to his
apartment, when unexpectedly, he discovers a man lying on the ground. The man is dead. For some unknown reason, Izzy takes the man’s
messenger bag. Inside the man’s
messenger bag, Izzy discovers two things.
The first thing, is a napkin with a telephone number. The second thing; is a rock that floats, and,
illuminates the color purple. Izzy calls
the telephone number, and, he asks if he can visit. It results that, the other side of the
telephone number is Celia Burns, the actress.
Izzy shows Celia, what the rock can do.
Celia and Izzy hold the rock in their hand. Celia feels joy, and, a feeling of being
connected to herself. Izzy feels joy,
and, a feeling of being connected to Celia.
Izzy helps Celia obtain the protagonist role, in Catherine Moore’s
movie. Izzy and Celia fall in love, and,
their relationship grows. Unfortunately,
the owners of the rock find Izzy. Subsequently,
Izzy is beaten and held in captivity.
The men will not release Izzy from captivity, until, they have the
rock. Director, Paul Auster, does a good
job. This movie starts to feel, like it
is going to be, a classic movie.
Unfortunately, a lot of things fall short. However, the effort is recognized as good
work. The writer, Paul Auster, does an
equally good job. The interaction
between Izzy and Celia, is very well written.
Unfortunately, a lot of things fall short. The officially recognized stars do a good job
performing their role. Special
recognition is merited to Harvey Keitel and Mira Sorvino. These two, are very good together. Overall, Lulu
on the Bridge (1998) earns the rating of 6 out of 10.
The movie narrative of, Lulu on the Bridge (1998), is as
follows. In New
York City, U.S.A.,
Izzy Maurer stares at pictures of actresses.
Celia Burn is one of the actresses.
It results that; Izzy was urinating, and, the pictures are part of the
wall, where the urinals are located. A
member of the band arrives. He tells
Izzy that, it is time. Izzy arrives at
the stage, and, the jazz concert begins.
Izzy plays the saxophone, in the jazz band. Unexpectedly, a man with a gun enters. The man starts to shoot bullets into the
ceiling. The people start to run. However, Izzy doesn’t stop playing the
saxophone. Unexpectedly, Izzy is on the
floor. Izzy has been shot in the
shoulder. The man with the gun kills
himself. As he is dying, Izzy sees a
rock fall from the ceiling. Izzy is
lying, on an operating table. Meanwhile,
Celia Burns walks to her other job, in a restaurant. Her first job is being an actress,
obviously. Celia arrives and asks for
permission, to go to, an audition. The
audition is for a shampoo commercial. At
the hospital, Izzy is alive and recovering.
Izzy has become a bitter man.
Additionally, Izzy lost the use of his left lung. Celia arrives at her apartment. She opens a CD and listens to it. At Izzy’s apartment, people call Izzy and
leave messages. Izzy is there, but, he
doesn’t answer the telephone. Izzy’s
ex-wife, Hannah, also calls Izzy. Izzy
passes time, on the streets of New York City. Izzy reads the newspaper, at a coffee
shop. Another musician approaches Izzy,
and, he wishes him well. At Izzy’s
apartment, Izzy’s ex-wife arrives to visit Izzy. Hannah visits, in order, to know if Izzy is
okay. Hannah is re-married to another
man. Izzy arrives at Hannah’s apartment,
to be able to, attend the dinner. Hannah
is married to a man named, Philip Kleinman.
Philip has a daughter named, Sonia.
Izzy arrives, and, he meets Sonia.
Hannah informs Izzy that, an ex-actress named Catherine Moore, will be
joining the group for dinner. Currently,
Catherine Moore is a movie director.
During dinner, Catherine leads the conversation. Philip tells the group that, they are working
on a new version of Pandora’s Box. Furthermore, that they don’t have an actress
for Lulu. Catherine and Hannah leave, to
pass time with Sonia. Izzy and Philip,
stay at the table and continue talking.
Philip tells Izzy a weird story.
The story is about a piece of poop, on the toilet seat of an airplane restroom. Meanwhile, Hannah puts on music. Hannah, Catherine and Sonia dance
together. Izzy leaves, Philip and
Hannah’s apartment. Izzy walks to his
apartment. On his way back to his
apartment, Izzy discovers a dead man.
The man appears to have been shot.
For some unknown reason, Izzy takes the man’s messenger bag. At his apartment, Izzy opens the messenger
bag. Izzy finds a telephone number
written on a napkin, and, a card board box.
The card board box, has boxes inside of boxes. Finally, Izzy discovers a rock, with a red
line across the back part. Izzy is lying
in bed, when, the mysterious rock starts to glow. The rock illuminates the color purple. Izzy gets out of bed, and, he turns on the
light. The rock stops illuminating the
color purple. Izzy turns the light off,
and, the rock starts to float in the air.
The rock, also continues, to illuminate the color purple. Izzy turns the light off again, and, the rock
starts to float in the air. The rock,
also continues, to illuminate the color purple.
Izzy turns the light on, and, the rock stops. Izzy feels restless, and, he smokes a
cigarette. The next morning, Celia is at
her apartment. Unexpectedly, Izzy calls
Celia on the telephone. Celia’s number
is the telephone number, which he found, in the messenger bag. Izzy asks, if he can visit her
apartment. Celia agrees, and, she gives
Izzy her home address. Celia listens to
Izzy’s music. Celia thinks about
something else. Izzy arrives at Celia’s
apartment, and, Izzy appears to be angry.
It results that, Izzy knew, or knows, who the dead man is. The dead man is Stanley
Mar. Izzy asks Celia, if she knows Stanley
Mar. Izzy becomes angry. He asks Celia, why her telephone number is on
the napkin. Celia tells Izzy that, she
works at a restaurant. Additionally,
that she went out on a date with, a man named Stanley. Izzy asks Celia, about the rock. Celia doesn’t know what is happening. Izzy demands answers. He also continues to show her the rock. Izzy closes the curtains, in order, to show
her the rock. Celia tells Izzy that, he
has to leave in five minutes. Izzy tells
Celia to turn off the lights. Celia
turns off the lights, and, the rock starts to glow. Celia decides to grab the rock, as it is,
floating in the air. Celia feels joy from
the rock. Izzy holds the rock in his
hands. Izzy also feels joy from the
rock. Izzy passes the rock, back, to
Celia. Celia feels connected to
herself. Izzy feels connected to
Celia. Celia asks Izzy, to turn on the
light. Izzy turns on the light, and, the
rock turns off. Celia and Izzy agree, to
re-meet the next day. Izzy walks to his
apartment. Unexpectedly, Celia chases
Izzy, in order, to stop him. Celia
invites Izzy to pass the day with her; grocery shopping. In bed, Izzy and Celia have a couple’s
moment. Izzy and Celia become lovers,
and, they talk about senseless things.
Celia tells Izzy that, she loves him.
Izzy and Celia, pass time together on the roof of the building; as a
couple. Izzy tells Celia the story, of
how, he found the rock. In bed, Izzy and
Celia continue to pass time, as lovers.
Celia prepares, to go, to work at the restaurant. Izzy is in love, and, he wants to work with
Celia at the restaurant. Celia says
that, she can ask. Celia works at the
restaurant, as a server. Meanwhile, Izzy
works at the same restaurant, as a busser.
The boss notices that, they are lovers.
At Celia’s apartment, Izzy and Celia pass time as lovers. Furthermore, Celia shows Izzy her acting
work. Celia tells Izzy that, she is
going to an audition. Incidentally, the
audition is for a movie, which is being directed by Catherine Moore. Izzy surprises Celia, by telling her that, he
knows Catherine and Philip. Izzy tells
Celia that, he will make a telephone call, and, get her the part. After the audition, Celia meets-up with
Izzy. Izzy was on the telephone, about,
giving the part to Celia. At the
restaurant, Celia has an incident with customers, who are men. The men offered to pay Celia for sex. Izzy arrives to escalate the incident, into,
a physical confrontation. The boss
arrives, to break things up.
Furthermore, he terminates Izzy’s employment. In turn, Celia quits her job, because, Izzy
lost his job. Celia and Izzy return to
Celia’s apartment. Through a telephone
message, Catherine tells Celia that, she has the part of Lulu. Catherine, Hannah, Celia and Izzy meet-up at
a restaurant. They talk about the Lulu
character, and, the movie. Izzy
announces that, he will be visiting Celia on the set of the movie. He also says that, he and Celia, will be
living together. Philip arrives, and, he
sits at the table. Izzy and Celia escape
the group, in order, to pass time as lovers.
Celia departs to film the movie.
Izzy will be following, two days later.
Izzy gives Celia the rock, before she leaves. Celia leaves, and, Izzy returns to his
apartment. As soon as Izzy enters his
apartment, three men also enter. The men
beat Izzy, and, they accuse him of killing Stanley. Celia lands at her destination. Izzy is taken to a secret location, and, held
in captivity. Izzy passes time in
captivity. Celia attempts to talk to
Izzy, on the telephone. However, she
ends up leaving telephone messages. She
also looks at the rock. In captivity,
Izzy is given a box of salted crackers.
Izzy passes time in captivity.
One day, he hears gun shots. A
man named Dr. Van Horn enters. Dr. Van
Horn brings Izzy food. Dr. Van Horn asks
Izzy, for the rock. Dr. Van Horn tells
Izzy that, the glow is work.
Furthermore, that the work has been conducted for several years. From this point forward; the series of events,
take the viewer, to the end. Dr. Van
Horn and his men, successfully find Celia.
They also attempt to take her captive.
Izzy manages to escape captivity.
Finally; you have to watch, in order to know, how this movie ends.
