The captivation of moving pictures is a source of tremendous
inspiration. For this reason and many

synopsis follows. Harsh Times (2005) is a crime drama movie out of the City of Los

fascinating story about life, and, the mistakes that one makes in life. A young man named Jim Davis, is experiencing
nightmares from his days as a U.S. Army Ranger.
Furthermore, the woman that he loves is in Mexico,
and, he is unable to bring her to the U.S.A. Davis
is still friends with someone from his childhood. This man’s name is Mike Alonzo. Furthermore, Alonzo is married to an
attorney, but, he has trouble maturing and becoming a responsible married
man. The bond between the two is very
evident as they drive around the City of Los Angeles
together, drinking beers. Davis
wants to be a police officer, for the Los Angeles Police Department. Unfortunately for Davis,
all of the mistakes that he commits on a daily basis, start to accumulate. He is not accepted to become a police
officer, for the Los Angeles Police Department.
However, he is accepted to join a law enforcement program with the
Department of Homeland Security.
Regrettably, all of his mistakes and bad behavior are on the table. For Alonzo, all of his mistakes add up, and,
his wife throws him out of their home.
Finally, all of the mistakes Davis
commits in his life add up to a crucial drug smuggling, and subsequent sale, of
20 kilos of marijuana. The sale goes
terribly wrong; Davis has to
confront the mistakes that, he commits in his life. Director David Ayer does a good job,
directing this movie. The scenes were; Davis
and Alonzo drive around the City of Los Angeles
are memorable, and, captivating.
Furthermore; David Ayer, as the writer, does an equally good job in
writing the dialogue for the interaction between Davis and Alonzo. The officially recognized stars contribute
tremendously. Their interaction brings
their scenes to life, and, those particular scenes become memorable. Christian Bale and Freddy Rodriguez merit
special recognition. Their respective
characters successfully hold, and, keep your attention throughout this
movie. Overall, this movie earns the
rating of 7 out of 10.
The movie
narrative of, Harsh Times (2005), is
as follows. Davis, or Jim; is sleeping
in the backseat of a car, and, he is having nightmares about his time as a U.S.
Army Ranger. Furthermore, he is in rural
Mexico, and, he
is visiting a woman that he loves. The
woman’s name is Marta, and, they talk about obtaining a visa so that Marta can
live in the U.S.A. Davis
returns to the City of Los Angeles,
and, he goes to see his friend Alonzo, or Mike, at his house. Alonzo’s wife is named Sylvia, and, she is an
attorney. Alonzo was going to go out to
find a job. However, he decides to spend
the day with Davis. Davis
is driving, and, they start the day by drinking in the car while driving. Furthermore, Davis
wants to be a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. They go to an LAPD station to pick up a
letter. Through the letter, Davis
learns that his application was rejected by the LAPD. Furthermore, he becomes extremely angry. After Davis
calms down, Davis and Alonzo decide to continue drinking beer. They buy more beer, at a store owned by
Koreans. Davis
starts to change, and, he is becoming a super asshole. Davis and Alonzo decide to steal marijuana
from a drug dealer that, sells it on the street while standing on the
sidewalk. They successfully steal the
marijuana, and, start to smoke. Davis
feels that, he wants to have sex with a woman.
Furthermore, he goes to visit, or see, a Mexican woman named Letty. Alonzo waits in the car. Letty has a sister named Patty. Furthermore, Letty tells Davis
that, she is dating someone. Letty’s
current boyfriend arrives, and, Davis
runs out. Patty tells her current
boyfriend that; Davis was just
here, and, that he ran off. Patty’s
current boyfriend is named Flaco.
Furthermore, Flaco is able to catch Alonzo. There are 3 more people in the car with
Flaco. The group starts to beat up Davis,
when Alonzo arrives to help. Alonzo
gives Davis his gun, and, the
situation changes. With the gun in his
hand; Davis calms down the group,
and, he starts to steal everything that they have. Cocaine was one of the things that, they
stole. Davis and Alonzo stop, in order,
to use cocaine. They also find an
expensive 9mm hand gun. Additionally, it
becomes another thing that, they have stolen.
Davis and Alonzo return to Davis’s
apartment, and, continue drinking. Davis
receives a telephone call from the Department of Homeland Security. He is told that; he has to report the next
day, in order, to start testing for employment.
The next day, Davis goes to
Alonzo’s home. Furthermore, he starts to
prepare to cheat on the urinalysis test.
Davis starts by drinking
vinegar. They drive off together. Davis
stops to be able to inject fluid into his penis, in order, to cheat on the
urinalysis test. Davis
successfully takes the urinalysis test in the presence of, Agent Richards. After Davis
is finished, at the Department of Homeland Security, the two pass the day
drinking beer. They also go to see a
Black man, named Darrell. They try to
sell him the 9mm hand gun that, they have stolen. However, Darrell doesn’t buy the hand
gun. After having seen Darrell; Davis
and Alonzo go to a sleazy Mexican bar to see a man named Eddy. They try to sell the 9mm hand gun to Eddy,
but, Eddy is murdered in front of them.
Alonzo returns to his house. His
wife, Sylvia, knows that he spent the day drinking, and, they have a
fight. Sylvia throws Alonzo out of the
house, and, he spends the night with Davis. Davis
is informed that, he is a candidate for a job with the Department of Homeland
Security. Alonzo interviews for a job
with a man that, he knew when he was a child.
Davis and Alonzo re-unite, and, they start to drink beer. One day passes, and, Davis
has to take a polygraph test. Davis
is informed that, he didn’t pass the polygraph test. Furthermore, that they found marijuana in his
urine. Davis
is offered a different job or assignment.
Davis is asked if, he wants
to go to Columbia to be an advisor
in Columbia’s war on drugs. The assignment is considered to be an
anti-narcotics program. Davis
accepts the job or assignment. Davis and
Alonzo start to drink beer, and, drive.
Alonzo is driving, when the police stop them. It turns out that, the police officer is
someone he knows. He is also told that,
another friend named Toussant is back in town.
Davis and Alonzo go to see Toussant.
Furthermore, they sell him the 9mm hand gun. Davis, Alonzo and Toussant decide to
improvise a trip to Mexico. The group arrives in Mexico,
and, they spend the night in the car.
The car is parked in front of the house/shack of Davis’s
woman. Davis’s
woman is named, Marta. Furthermore, the
group passes time in Mexico
forgetting, their lives in Los Angeles. One night; before the group’s planned return
to the U.S.A.,
Marta tells Davis that she is
pregnant. Davis
explodes in a violent rage, and, almost kills Marta with his gun. Alonzo stops the violent incident, and, Marta
runs away. From this point forward; the
series of events, take the viewer, to the end.
The group returns to the U.S.A. It results that, Davis
secretly smuggled 20 kilos of marijuana.
Davis and Alonzo try to sell the marijuana immediately. You have to watch, to know how, the attempted
sale of the marijuana is a complete failure and catastrophe. Finally; you have to watch, in order to know,
how this movie ends.
